A lot of things can be done to freshen up your property. Take a step back and think about what your property looks like to other people. You'll be surprised how much you don't notice on a day to day basis. Selling your property doesn't have to be a intimidating and daunting process. To prepare your property sale readiness, consider some of these tips.
Declutter
People love space. Decluttering is such an important step in preparing your home for selling. Decluttering can be pretty intimidating experience depending on how much material you have. Put on some of your favourite tunes and proceed on a room by room basis. Don't feel pressured and take your time. It is also important to make the distinction between tidying and decluttering. When you tidy, all you are doing is arranging all your bits and pieces into a neat fashion. Decluttering however is the actual removal of some of your bits and pieces to create a more spacious environment and doesn't give you a feeling of being overcrowded.
Patch and Paint Walls
Stains, chips and off colours. You may not notice it, but buyers will. Over time painted surfaces start to acquire imperfections which are notice due to the fact that it occurs slowly over long periods of time. Take time to inspect your walls and ceilings. Look for these imperfections, then patch and paint. This is one of the few things that can breathe new life into your home and not be costly. Its amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do for your property.
The Deep Clean
This is essential in making sure your property presents well when it comes time to sell. Start at one end of the house and work your way through to the other. Paying attention to detail. Any window and sliding door tracks, air vents, inside draws and cupboards. Clean everything. It will make a difference.
Repairs and Maintenance
These days buyers have a lot options and they inspect properties trying to find imperfections. Nothing turns a buyer off more than an unmaintained property. Carry out your own inspection on a room by room basis. Look for any chipped tiles , stained carpet, loose door handles etc and have these repaired. It will make a huge difference.
Outside
Give your outdoor space some TLC. There is a lot you can do outside. Lawn looking a little dry? Start watering 2-3 times a week so as to make it flourish. Have your garden nicely trimmed and weeded. If you have a deck, check to see if it needs polishing. Check the exterior walls of the house. do they need a scrub/
All these things can give a property that fresh feeling we are looking for.
Other small things to consider:
Do all the lights work?
Is your fence in good nic?
Do all your power points work?
Are all drains and gutters clear?
Are your windows clean?
These are some of the things to look at if you would like to sell your property faster.
